Residence and work permits

Applications for work and residence permits must be addressed to the Minister in charge of immigration matters at the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Immigration.

 

A residence permit can be obtained by persons employed in Luxembourg, self-employed persons, sportsmen and women, students, stagiaires, voluntary workers, researchers, family members and for personal reasons.

 

Applicants in Russia are requested to submit their documents together with a visa application to the Luxembourg Embassy in Moscow, consular section:

In addition to the standard visa application, the following documents are required for the different categories of applicants:

The guarantor (if applicable) must fill in the following form, which has to be legalized by the commune of residence and approved by the passport and visa office at the Luxembourg Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Upon arrival in Luxembourg, the applicant is required to make a declaration of arrival (“déclaration d’arrivée”) at the local commune where he/she plans to take residence. The applicant will be provided with a copy of this declaration. The ministerial letter of authorization and the copy of the arrival declaration will serve as proof that the person is authorized to reside in Luxembourg until he/she has duly received the residence permit.

In order to receive a residence permit, the applicant is required, within three months of the declaration of arrival, to submit to the Department of Immigration the following form: 

Formulaire « Demande en délivrance d’un titre de séjour pour ressortissant de pays tiers »
 

with the following documents:

1.a certified copy of the ministerial letter of authorization

2.a certified copy of the arrival declaration established by the local commune of residence

3.a medical certificate by a doctor established in Luxembourg

4.proof of adequate accommodation

5.a recent passport photo (colour photo, size: 3,5 cm wide, 4,5 cm high). Photograph guidelines.pdf

6.proof of payment of EUR 30 to the « Administration de l’Enregistrement et des Domaines », account CCPL n° LU65 1111 0002 4753 0000.
